As part of its policy on innovation and the commercialisation of research, the Université de Picardie Jules Verne is committed to encouraging laboratories to pursue innovation projects with a view to transferring the results to the wider community (businesses, organisations, institutions). Future innovations may take the form of new products or services, but also new organisational structures within businesses, new ways of using products or services, and so on.

The BOOSTER VALO call for projects aims to identify commercialisation projects with a view to supporting laboratories and platforms in carrying out projects with innovation potential.

Objectives :

This call has several main objectives :

  • to strengthen research outcomes with the potential for transfer to society ;

  • to support researchers in identifying outcomes with innovation potential ;

  • to enable projects to advance in terms of technological or societal maturity (TRL or SRL)

Description of the call for proposals :

The university intends to fund projects up to a maximum of € 10 000 per project.

The funds must be spent during the 2027 financial year.

Eligible expenditure will include small items of equipment, running costs, internship allowances and mission expenses.

Eligibility criteria :

  • The project leader must be a member of a research unit or platform at the university ;

  • The call for proposals is open to all disciplines and research areas at UPJV ;

  • Proposed projects must be at TRL 2 or SRL 2 ;

  • Proposed projects must lead to results with potential for commercialisation that can be protected by a patent, software registration. They may also lead to the creation of decision-support tools, products, services or methodological guides facilitating an understanding of their applications ;

  • Proposed projects must not have been subject to prior assessment by the SATT or any other commercialisation program that has resulted in pre-commercialisation or commercialisation.

Procedure :

The project leader must complete the application form on the eMundus online platform by 4th november 2026 at 4pm.

The applicant must provide the following information :

  • project summary

  • project objectives

  • a brief review of the current state

  • initial results achieved and expected

  • identified obstacles

  • current level of maturity

  • potential transfer and applications

  • valorisation activities and partnerships already in place or proposed

  • staff involved

  • previous funding

The applicant must also provide the work plan and a provisional budget as attachments. Templates are available in the "Attachments" tab.

The unit director must submit their review and the ranking of the project within the research unit, in the event that several applications are submitted by the same research unit.

Upon receipt of the applications, the Research department will organise meetings between the project leaders and the SATT Nord to ensure that the latter has all the information required to form a review on the project's commercialisation potential.

Based on the information provided in the application, as well as the SATT's opinion, the proposals will then be examined by a working group comprising the Research Department, the Vice-Presidents, members of The Research Committe and SATT Nord.

Following the working group's deliberations, a ranking will be proposed and put to a vote by the Research Committe.

Commitments of the project leader :

The project leader undertakes to :

  • draw up a short report for the first quarter of 2028 detailing the work carried out, the results achieved, the prospects for commercialisation and technology transfer, and the expenditure incurred ;

  • upon completion of the project, where possible, initiate a process to commercialise the results of their research project through :

    • further development by SATT Nord, prior to transfer to an existing company or the creation of a start-up

    • direct transfer to an existing company, whereby the transfer must enable that company to gain a competitive advantage by addressing strategic development challenges

    • transfer to an association or local authority, whereby the transfer must help to advance thinking on the problems encountered and the implementation of public policies

Evaluation criteria :

The different evaluation criteria will be :

  • the quality of the application

  • alignment with the objectives of the call for proposals

  • the scientific quality of the initial results obtained

  • the level of maturity of the results

  • the potential for commercialisation within the socio-economic sector

  • the proposed commercialisation strategy

  • the potential for developing economic and research partnerships

  • the estimated leverage effect of the call for proposals in securing further funding

  • funding already secured for the project

  • the impact on research activity

  • the credibility of the development program and timetable
